Keith is an accomplished artist, having recently completed his masters in sculpture, performance and installation at COFA.  His work has been selected for exhibition in Sculpture by the Sea, Sculpture at Scenic World, eARTH project, and other prizes.  We are looking forward to see what he will create for The Rylstone Wood Sculpture Symposium.
His work often engages with themes that explore the land, its interpretation, and issues surrounding its usage and intervention and often possesses an expression of his Christian Faith.
Keith began working with wood as a young man, building boats, but it wasn’t until later in life that he realised its potential as a medium for making art through collaboration with another artist.  While working across a number of mediums, he favours bronze and wood, finding in the latter a ‘life’ and nature that talks to him as he works with it.  He will use this quality to create the figure of two hands clasped in a gesture affirming the positive in life, a gesture suggested by the physicality of the supplied tree.
He is also looking forward to visiting Rylstone to see a town often fondly spoken of by his mother, who was born in Newnes and raised in Lithgow.  The symposium itself will be an opportunity to get “art out to the normal everyday person”.  He is passionate in his desire to cultivate a place for creativity and the arts within the broader Australian culture.
